What to Expect from a CFATS Pre-Authorization Visit
The Infrastructure Security Compliance Division (ISCD) is charged with approving or denying Site Security Plans (SSPs). Using the CFATS SSP Edit Tool
The Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) is now several years old, and many facilities have already submitted Site Security Plans (SSPs) to the Infrastructure Security Compliance Division (ISCD) the component with the Department of Homeland Security responsible for CFATS compliance. The overwhelming majority of these facilities are waiting for ISCD to assess their SSP and make an initial approval or denial decision. Read more >>

The Chemical Industry Embraces Responsible Care
Before there was CFATS, there was the Responsible Care Security Code. It was started in 1988 by the American Chemical Council and the code was made mandatory in 2001 it is a requirement for all members of the ACC. It is an aggressive security initiative to protect facilities, information, communities and the public. It involves physical facility, cyber and transportation security and it requires many of the same things mandated by CFATS. Read more >>
