VP of Technology
In this hands-on role, this person will provide business and technology vision and leadership in the implementation of Putman's strategic goals for its digital initiatives, cross-departmental efforts, infrastructure and internal support and clients and vendors services.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, coordinate, and direct all operational activities of the IT function
- Execute the technology aspects of the company’s digital media strategy, and transform how decisions are made regarding digital media from instinct to data based
- Automate the reporting of results for clients monthly campaigns
- Work with the management team to implement the best in class tools to support demand generation and lead cultivation
- Participate with management team in making testing and refinement part of our DNA
- Supplement extraordinary individual effort with great process in the area of campaign execution
- Develop a smooth and affordable process for continuous site development and improvement
- Evaluate tools used to monitor web site activity
- Implement a knowledge share and collaboration platform (like Jive) that enables us to scale and replicate success
- Assist in the development of a digital media strategy aimed at keeping Putman at the forefront of digital medium
- Negotiate and manage all out-sourced technology contracts and services
Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience as an technology leader
- Proven experience with the planning , development, evaluation, coordination and management of IT systems and large scale project rollouts
- Understanding of web development life cycle processes and best practices
- BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related area
- MBA preferred; Media experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The desire and ability to mentor and teach others
- The ability to identify the appropriate times to re-engineer processes or workflows, communicate those workflows and implement them across the enterprise

In this role, the Publisher is responsible for developing & executing objectives for print and digital, new products, and new events. You will be accountable for the team's sales efforts in addition to carrying your own territory, building a brand, managing P&L activities, providing direction to circulation, identifying ancillary business opportunities and developing a business plan. Additionally, you will be charged with creating tools and assisting the efforts of the dynamic sales people helping to grow this property.

Director of Live Events - Chicago
We are looking for a talented Director of Live Events to join our team. In this role, you will take the lead on helping Putman to develop new events. You will leverage your prior experience in event creation and production to be successful. Your expertise in managing mid-sized events will also allow you to hit the ground running.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement and manage a variety of programs and activities, including customer seminars, user conferences, trade shows, and special promotions;
- Ensure that all events meet business needs as well as create a positive experience for participants, within budget;
- Develop and implement PR and advertising campaigns;
- Work with our creative team to develop custom creative strategies for each event;
- Develop and implement pre and post-event surveys; review results and recommend potential changes;
- Prepare and distribute event-related materials and other communications to appropriate groups;
- Create reports, presentations and other documents;
- Fulfill necessary administrative responsibilities, include meeting scheduling, travel planning, expense reporting and vendor payments.
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Seven plus years of experience in live event marketing;
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, strategic thinker, ability to multi-task.

Web Developer
We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, Chicago based Web Developer. This key position is responsible for development of Putman's customer facing and internal websites. The Developer will focus on the back-end architecture of the sites and must have strong knowledge of visual design and presentation technologies. This position is in a fast paced department where we often embrace new technologies.
Responsibilities include: apply best practices to website development, design website architecture, develop and deploy new websites, and maintain existing websites.
Qualified candidates will possess:
- strong HTML, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, strong CSS, cross-browser compatibility development and testing skills, object oriented design skills
- familiar with MVC design patterns and source code management tools and strategies
- familiar with Sass and Compass, and Git version control
- experience with SilverStripe a plus as well as XML, XSL, AJAX, JSON
- active in the development community, participate in networking and learning events
